Unless otherwise requested, Miranda ships in DHCP mode. Upon boot, the Miranda will attempt to find a DHCP address for about 5 minutes. If no address is found, it will default to the following parameters:

• 10.1.x.x where x.x is the last two bytes of its MAC address (see example)
• Netmask 255.255.0.0 (or /16)
• Gateway 10.1.0.1
• DNS server 8.8.8.8

Locating devices on the local network

If you cannot locate the address using the DHCP server and it hasn't defaulted to the 10.1.x.x address, here are some tips for finding the IP address of the Miranda on your network:

• Devices will respond to ArtPoll requests
• Mirandas offer a web server on port 80, which is useful for finding them with nmap
• Devices transmit a gratuitous ARP request with its current address every 60 seconds. This allows you to identify devices even if they are not on your subnet (i.e., if their static IP has been set to something unknown).
