All Mirandas are powered by 5VDC, with about a 1A (5W) consumption. Regardless, we recommend a minimum 8W power supply per device to ensure smooth operation.

They can be powered by a wall wart or other power supply. Current recommended power supplies include:

• Mean Well GSM12U05-P1J (Wall wart)
• Mean Well APV-8-5 (Enclosed surface mount)
• Mean Well APV-12-5 (Enclosed surface mount)
• Mean Well DR-15-5 (DIN Rail mount)

Issues have been reported with the following power supplies:

• Mean Well HDR-15-5 (DIN Rail mount)
  • Rise time is too slow, controller sometimes doesn't boot from cold power on.
  • This may be solved in newer hardware revisions.

Ethernet

All Mirandas have an RJ45 jack for the ethernet connection. The controller only supports 10/100 Ethernet, so only two of the pairs of the cable are being used (pins 1 + 2, and 3+6). The controller does support Auto-MDIX, which means that it does not matter if you use a straight or a crossover cable when connecting to the Miranda.

The LEDs will indicate your status:

• Upon boot with no cable connected, the orange LED will be lit, but not the green.
• The Green LED indicates 10 vs. 100 link. If the LED is not lit, the link is a 10Mbps connection. If the LED is lit, the connection is a 100Mbps. In general, you should see this LED lit unless there's a switch configuration or cable issue.
• The Orange LED indicates traffic. If it is solidly lit, there is no traffic, it blinks off as packets are sent or received.

DMX IO

All Mirandas support two universes of DMX output or input. It is possible to configure the outputs as a single universe (mirrored) or two separate universes.

Miranda DMX has isolated outputs— they're technically magnetically isolated, not optoisolated, but it provides a similar benefit.
